The Catamount EcoChallenge is an opportunity to change your life for good. For two weeks leading up to Earth Day, April 22, 2013, we challenge you to change one habit for Earth. You choose the challenge, then meet with other Eco Challengers to share challenge experiences. Together we can create real change.
Choose your EcoChallenge: The most important part is to start where you are today. We are all at different points on our personal sustainability paths. Choose an EcoChallenge or multiple EcoChallenges. For inspiration check the categories in the horizontal menu above (ex. Food, Energy, Transportation, Trash, Water, OR create your own challenge (at least one measurable goal to measure your success; there are no limits on what you can choose—so exercise your eco-creativity!)
Sharing your challenge with friends and family is a great way to inspire others and keep yourself accountable. Keep a journal. Take photos. Make videos. Share your experience on Facebook or Twitter. We will meet for a potluck dessert on Earth Day April 22 to share experiences and hope you will share some of those experiences on our blog site. Check out the inspiring videos posted by our sister organization, Northwest Earth Institute. For more inspiration see Janisse Ray’s short video “This I Believe” and decide . . . what are you going to do?
* The EcoChallenge is a great tool for involving teams of friends and colleagues in sustainability. Creating a team for your workplace, school, church, or other organizations is a fun, inspirational way for you to kick start a sustainability program or strengthen initiatives already in place. Might you organize a team?
If you need suggestions, check the horizontal menu above: Energy, Food, Transportation, Trash, Water. Once you have decided on your EcoChallenge, please do the following:
2. *Sign Up for the Blog
3.*Blog – we’d like folks to know about your challenge – you may spark someone to try something similar, and it will be encouraging to know you are out there! The names of all who have blogged will be entered in a raffle for gift certificates donated by KAF. (Names will be drawn at our Earth Day gathering.)
4. Save the Date! April 22 at 6:00pm All EcoChallenge participants are invited to an Earth Day gathering at the Norwich Congregational Church in downtown Norwich. Catamount Earth Institute will provide cheese, bread, and cider and we’d love to have potluck nibbles, but only if you can find the time. This will be a time for participants to share what they learned from doing the challenge. Names of bloggers will be drawn for the King Arthur prizes.
5. Do let your friends know about your challenge, via Facebook, Twitter, etc. Together we can inspire each other and be a force for change.
